When Daniel received the prophecy about what was to come before the end times... when he learned of all that people would suffer, like many people are today, he was overcome (and weak) and lay sick for days (Daniel 8:27). It can be easy to be overcome by the suffering and the terrible things that are happening in this world but please do not be dismayed. God asks us to be strong and courageous in our faith because although many things may seem bleak and many things we experience will be very difficult, and though we may feel weak... we do have Jesus Christ and his Holy Spirit within us. In 2 Corinthians 12:9 he says, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness." And in 2 Peter 1:3 we read that "His divine power has given us everything required for life and Godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness." Maybe you're experiencing some heartache or pain today and maybe you're realizing as the Israelites and Daniel did that God doesn't always take us out of those tough circumstances and ease our pain. Maybe you're feeling overwhelmed and discouraged, like Daniel was but you can take heart, like Daniel eventually did, because Christ has already overcome the world. Your future is secure and He gives you everything you need to persevere until the end comes. And because of this, because of his presence and his power and his strength that is alive inside of us, we can rise up and go about the King's business, as Daniel did next in Daniel 8, verse 27. One day the greatest evils of this world will be broken--not by human hands (Daniel 8:25). Praise God! So, let's hope in that, persevere, and continue to go about the King's business. Amen?
